The Corporate Meeting
Intro
It is important to acquire the Fear of the Lord about entering the Corporate Meeting. The gathering together of the saints is a holy and set apart time for growth and ministry to Yashua's Body. This is not to be taken lightly.
All your personal problems should be left at the door when you enter the room, unless of course you are going to immediately ask for prayer. Do not bring your personal struggles into the room and share them, unless for the specific purpose of asking for prayer and getting help. Other than that, you should be honorable enough of Christ's body that you come into the meeting seeking to deliver to others what you have received of the Father in your personal prayer time.
If you have not received of the Father something to share, then just be quiet and let others lead out. Do not lead out in your soul or the flesh, or, if you do, understand that you will be judged for it, which is perfectly ok and in line with what is expected from Yashua. He wants us to judge the expressions during a Holy Ghost led meeting so that we can eventually all be in unity with Christ Himself.
If you will humble yourself, there will be plenty of opportunity to share and to be corrected, as needed. Always remember that the Holy Spirit is the One who leads the meeting, and not you. He will use you, but He will also equally use others as He chooses, and He generally chooses those who have prepared themselves as a vessel for His pouring out.
Deeply meditate the following scriptural passage from Paul. This is the foundation of what happens when we gather together in Christ and under the leading of the Holy Spirit:
1Co 12:4 Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.
1Co 12:5 And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
1Co 12:6 And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.
1Co 12:7 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.
1Co 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit;
1Co 12:10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues:
1Co 12:11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.
One Body with Many Members
1Co 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
1Co 12:13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body...
In these verses, Paul repeatedly tells us that it is "One Spirit" that moves through all of us, and it is this One Spirit, the Holy Spirit, that leads the Body of Christ by the different gifts and utterances that He gives to each person. We must get this!
When we meet together, it is about following the leading of the Holy Spirit, and He leads us by the gifts and utterances that He puts in people. It does not matter whether it is a 5 year old child or an aged apostle, it is the Holy Spirit that chooses and moves. Let us learn to listen to the One Spirit in each of us so that we can rightly discern what our Shepherd is saying to us as a Body.
With that as our intro, let's get into this!
The Corporate Meeting
Paul addressed the corporate meeting as follows:
1Co 14:26 How is it then, brethren? when ye come together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation, hath an interpretation. Let all things be done unto edifying.
Notice that Paul is addressing, "when ye come together", and also notice that he says "every one of you hath". This shows us that Paul expected every member of the body to have received something from the Holy Spirit to give to others. Where did they receive this? In their closet time with the Father:
Mat 6:6 But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.
One way the Father rewards you "openly" is by giving you a blessing to share with others. This is important so that all of the members of the Body feel important, valuable, loved, and placed. Both the giver and the receivers will feel blessed and valuable when what is given of the Father is shared with all.
We need to know that we are placed into a family of believers where we can grow in our stature with Father.
Psa 68:6 God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
A dry parched land is where you will dwell until Yahweh places you into a local body. What does Father do for you in the local body He places you in? He will brake the chains that bind you and cause prosperity to come upon you. How does the local Body effect this for you? Because the local Body, the "family" that He has chosen for you, is the place He designed for you to find expression. Only through practicing your expression of the Holy Spirit will you finally break free of the bondage that has held you.
The enemy has you "bound with chains" so that you will not become a spirit that freely expresses the "quickening" of the Father's Glory. You are resurrected, now you must express that resurrection in the family of God where He has placed you.
Having a "psalm...a doctrine...a tongue...a revelation... an interpretation" is the Father's way of rewarding you for spending time with Him. You are to then bring this to the meeting and share it. By doing this you will grow in your confidence that you are an important and legitimate part of the local Body of Christ. This is super important for your health and growth as a Christian.
Functioning In The Meeting
1Co 14:32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets.
When we understand and practice this, we will avoid that super-excited and ecstatic utterances that are unusual and out of line. The best practice is to hold what you have until you can be sure that what you have fits in with the flow of the Holy Spirit that the leadership has already established. You might be the one to turn the flow of the meeting, but always the Holy Spirit is the One who is leading the meeting, and so we are actually just yielding to His leadership. If you understand this, it will help you find His flow and to get into it.
1Co 14:40 Let all things be done decently and in order.
Judgment In The Meeting
Some would like us to believe that we are not to judge people within a corporate setting. While it is true that we don't judge people for their personality and preferences, it is equally as true that we need to judge the spirit and the words of those who speak out:
1Co 14:29 Let the prophets speak two or three, and let the other judge.
1Jn 4:1 Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
If you are going to be bold enough to speak out and to lead in a prayer, an exhortation, a revelation, a prophesy, a song, or any of the giftings or unctions of the Holy Spirit, then expect the others in the room to judge the spirit and the word that you are speaking.
Heaven wants you to be bold and to release that gifting and anointing that is within you, just be aware that it will be scrutinized to see if it is indeed from the Holy Spirit or if it is from a familiar spirit. If you don't know, then go ahead and speak out so that you can learn. Just don't get upset if you are judged and corrected.
Summary:
Paul emphasized the importance of every believer contributing to the corporate meeting, expecting each person to bring something from the Holy Spirit—whether a psalm, doctrine, tongue, revelation, or interpretation (1 Cor. 14:26). This aligns with the principle that time spent in private prayer with God rewards individuals with blessings to share (Matt. 6:6), fostering growth and connection within the body of Christ (Psalm 68:6). The local church serves as a family where believers break free from spiritual chains, finding purpose and expression through the Holy Spirit. It is essential to function in unity, with the spirits of prophets subject to one another (1 Cor. 14:32), ensuring order and yielding to the Holy Spirit’s direction (1 Cor. 14:40). Additionally, believers must judge the spirit and words in the meeting, distinguishing between those led by the Holy Spirit and those from false sources (1 Cor. 14:29, 1 John 4:1).
Main Points of Emphasis:
- Every member of the body is expected to contribute something from the Holy Spirit in the corporate meeting (1 Cor. 14:26).
- Time spent in private communion with God leads to spiritual rewards that benefit others (Matt. 6:6).
- The local body of believers is a place for freedom, growth, and spiritual prosperity (Psalm 68:6).
- Believers should practice unity, yielding to the Holy Spirit’s flow in the corporate setting (1 Cor. 14:32, 1 Cor. 14:40).
- It is important to judge the spirit and words of those speaking, discerning the source (1 Cor. 14:29, 1 John 4:1).
Accountability to Action:
- Spend time in prayer and communion with God to receive something to share with the body during corporate meetings.
- Actively participate in the meeting, contributing with the guidance of the Holy Spirit, while respecting the leadership and flow.
- Be open to judgment and correction when speaking out in the meeting, allowing it to strengthen your growth and discernment.
- Ensure that your contribution aligns with the Holy Spirit's leading and is in unity with the body of believers.
